"Metamorfishes"
Sockeye Salmon
The Definition of metamorphosis is a change of physical form or structure by supernatural means.  This piece captures that concept on two levels.  In artistic form, the fish evolve from log to lumber and roughed out fish, to detailed and painted salmon.  In the natural sense, the sculpture depicts the salmon's amazing change from the silver ocean phase called "bright", to the red color of the spawn phase.  This colorful change happens as they reenter fresh water, thus earning them the nickname of "Reds".
